Citing Your Resources
Doing ethical research means citing sources. It is critical to credit writers for their work and their contributions to your research. To not do so is unethical and leads to plagiarism - unintentionally or not. Here are some sources to help you cite properly and to avoid the problem of plagiarism.

Banks, J. & Banks, C.A. (Eds.). (2004). Handbook of research on multicultural education. San Francisco: Jossey-Bass. Presents lengthy, signed articles arranged in sections on various aspects of the subject. Reference lists are extensive. A name and subject index appear as well. Ref. LC 1099.3 .H35 2004
Byrnes, M. A. (Ed.) Taking sides: Clashing views on controversial issues in special education. Guilford, Conn.: McGraw-Hill/Dushkin. A self-described “debate-style reader designed to introduce students to controversies in education,” this source tackles a range of issues including several apt to this course. Presents nearly 200 one to two page entries, all with reference lists, many of which are lengthy. Features include a list of terms, index, and appendices of contacts and resources. Ref. Guthrie, J. W. (Ed.). (2003) Encyclopedia of education. New York: Macmillan Reference USA. Contains over 850 entries, accessed either by index or a unique outline of contents feature. Articles are signed and many are lengthy. Extensive bibliographies of print and online sources provide further research assistance. Ref LB15 .E47 2003

Council for Exceptional Children/Teacher Support. This page presents links to ERIC digests, mini bibliographies, FAQs, internet resources and discussion groups, and document citations regarding teacher collaboration in special education. Very rich resource—explore the whole site.
CREDE.org (Center for Research on Education, Diversity, and Excellence) offers publications and networking opportunities to teachers and administrators. CREDE is “a federally funded research and development program focused on improving the education of students whose ability to reach their potential is challenged by language or cultural barriers, race, geographic location, or poverty.”
Educator’s Guide to Learning and Teaching/Multicultural Education Resources. From Georgia State University, a directory of resources linking to a book list, multicultural calendar, and the Multicultural Pavilion from EdChange.
National Education Association This page relates tips and strategies from teachers of inclusive classes. Searching the site on keywords “inclusion”, “collaboration” or “diversity” generate hundreds of hits.
Precious Children / Diversity in the Classroom from PBS is a program-related page that provides practical, teacher-oriented suggestions on a variety of issues related to classroom diversity, including scenario and solution pieces, and suggested class activities.
Standards for Diverse Learners is an article from the journal Educational Leadership, written by Paula Kluth and Diana Straut. Reads like a concise primer on issues of standards in diverse classrooms. Many references.
