You can search for books in the library catalog in a number of different ways:
Dictionaries & Encyclopedias
Biography in Context - Search for the name of a person to get background information as well as a selection of newspaper, magazine, and journal articles about them.
Search this database of published encyclopedias to get a variety of information on your topic.
These databases are good places to start searching for articles on your topics. If you need to dig deeper, browse through our subject directory to pick a database that matches your research area.
Academic Search Premier searches a wide range of magazines, journals, and newspapers covering many academic topics. Good place to start for most anything.
Jstor searches many academic journals in the arts and humanities and social sciences.

Citing Your Resources
Doing ethical research means citing sources. It is critical to credit writers for their work and their contributions to your research. To not do so is unethical and leads to plagiarism - unintentionally or not. Here are some sources to help you cite properly and to avoid the problem of plagiarism.
