Citing in the MLA Style

MLA Basics

  • Give the author’s name as it appears on the title page
  • Capitalize all important title words
  • Titles of books or periodicals are italicized
  • Long month names are abbreviated to their shorter form
  • In-text citations use author and page, e.g., (Wordsworth 263)
