Citing Your Resources
Doing ethical research means citing sources. It is critical to credit writers for their work and their contributions to your research. To not do so is unethical and leads to plagiarism - unintentionally or not. Here are some sources to help you cite properly and to avoid the problem of plagiarism.

These books are located on the first floor of the Oakdale Library. They cannot be removed from the library, but it can be most helpful to consult these sources on your chosen topics. Browsing them may even help you determine what issues in the field you would like to explore.

American Psychological Association (APA)
This is the homepage for the leading professional psychological organization in the USA. This site posts links to articles of general interest directly from their front page. Use their SEARCH function to locate items of interest to you. Conferences, job postings, and PSYCHCRAWLER are also to be found here.
American Psychological Society
This sites has links to some articles from past APS Journal. Please note their “Psychology Links” the bottom of this list has “Other Sites of Interest” which I found to be most useful for teaching and student resources.
Buros Institute of Mental Measurements
Invaluable tool for tests and testing. This site offers basic information about the test found in the various MMY and has grouped them in various ways for easy searching. There are also links from this page to articles and non-Buros databases. This is an excellent place to begin a search on tests and testing.
Canadian Psychological Association (CPA)
Similar to the APA, this site links to many sites of interest to students and teachers. Some sites are in French or are bilingual. I suggest beginning with the keyword option in the center of the box.
Dr. Michael Fenichel’s Current Topics in Psychology
Extensive set of links to articles, web sites, and research tools on specific psychological topics and current hot topics having a bearing on psychology.
DSM Psychology Library
Excerpts only available without subscription to the DSM-IV and symptom index. Helpful when quickly trying to identify disorder and related DSM section number.
This revision of the fourth edition of the manual published by the American Psychiatric Association to set forth diagnostic criteria, descriptions and other information to guide the classification and diagnosis of mental disorders was published in 2000 replacing DSM-IV.
Electronic Journals in Psychology
This is a wonderful listing of Journals available on the web. Each journal listing details the extent of access from table of contents to key articles to full access.
Encyclopedia of Psychology
This site is an organized way to explore the field of psychology. It has both a hierarchical way of moving level by level through the desired topic or a search option to zone in on a specific topic.
Great On-line Resource for Statistics
Hosted by Statistics Solutions Inc. this site contains handy information and exercises for descriptive and inferential stats plus info on variables, parameters and measurement scales. Additionally there are handy links to books and other websites of interest.
Hanover College Psychology Department
An excellent starting point for psychology students. Many, many resources. The tutorials are well worth checking out.
National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress syndrome
This site is wonderful collection of articles and links about PTSD which is loaded and supported by the Veterans Administration.
Everything that you want to know about the brain and more. Resources on assessment, development, treatment, geriatric psychology, etc.
Russ Dewey’s Psych website. This site has a sidebar of a vast array of items from online text, journals, homepages, and help sheets. A very useful page for psychology students.
Sigmund Freud Archives
Links to resources about Sigmund Freud on the Internet. This site includes some of Freud's writings.
