I hope someone can help. I have a box of club memorabilia given to my mother in the 60s or 70s to protect. I would love to find a proper home for the pictures etc. I have many wonderful memories of fishing & hunting there.

There are a number of entities that might have an interest. One would be Friends of Connetquot. Harry Havemeyer is giving a lecture at the park tommorow. He and Gil Bergin, the park manager may be able to identify the people connected to the items you have.

Linda Kasten, I agree, the Friends of Connetquot would be the best home for your box of memories. They have some memorabelia from Lavern Witlock and Betty Kuss (local historians) which they are protecting for the future. I worked for the South Side Sportsman’s Club in 69, 70 and 71 and currently I work at Caleb Smith State Park Preserve. We have little memorabelia to put in our museum, I wish people would come forth with informatiion so we could share it with the public. All typed of memorabelia can be shared through lecture series and other historic programs. Why don’t you take a ride to the club, ($8.00 to park) take a tour (Sundays between 1:00 - 3:30 pm - $4/adult, $3/child) and then contact the Friends Group if you like what you see. The people at the park would be happy to put you in contact with the Friends Group. The reply JJ Friends, (Jerry) is one of the members of the group. Any of them would be pleased to help.

Thank you all… I remember Gil Bergin & perhaps I will touch base with him.. I am in Ligonier, Pa and I will try to get these things sent off to LI after the first of the year…. mostly albumn pictures.. my dad sadly lost his sight & could not identify old friends… I have marked my own family who are in pictures…. my daughter would like to keep the framed map of Southside… not sure of date… but not “crucial” if there are not others around…
