The first Idle Hour Mansion



The first Idle Hour Mansion was constructed for William K. Vanderbilt I in 1878. It was designed by the architect Richard Morris Hunt. This was the first commission Hunt was given by any member of the Vanderbilt family. It burned to the ground in April 1899.
