Performing Arts Show Is Back

By Melissa Theodorakatos
December 1, 2010

Last year, the Dowling community hosted its very own Performing Arts Night. The event was a huge success, and it brought students around the campus together for a night of great music and great fun. Students were introduced to a wide range of performances from music bands, poetry readings, art shows, and sketches. Karaoke time slots were also included in the eventís agenda, giving the audience a chance to get involved in the show and make some amazing memories. The Dowling community is proud to announce that Performing Arts Night will be back this coming April, with hopes to exceed the amazing legacy set forth last spring. Multiple clubs within the Student Government Association, such as the Art Club, the Catholic Club, the Drama Club, the GSA, the Humanitarian Club, NSCS, the Music Club, the Photography Club, the Ravenís Quill, and the Spoken Word, have come together to help expand the diversity and attendance of this amazing event.

Be on the lookout for fliers and emails revealing more information about Performing Arts Night!

If you would like to have your club involved in one of the yearís most anticipated events you can contact Meg Pascal at mep5@dowling.edu.

Winter Student Art Show

By Melissa Theodorakatos
December 1, 2010

The Dowling College Art Club will be hosting their very own Student Art Show on December 8th from 12–4PM in the Racanelli Art Studio (424RC). Faculty, staff, and students are welcome to join the Dowling Community during this student exhibition. Works of art from all major classes will be displayed to show how talented and innovative Dowling Visual Arts and Graphic Design students are. This event will provide the opportunity for students to gain recognition for their own work, while its viewers will be exposed to beautiful works of art created within the Dowling campus. Light refreshments will be served throughout the show.

All students are invited to submit their work for the show, regardless of their major. For more information about submissions, contact president Sarah Asplund at sna3@dowling.edu. Up to three works of art may be submitted by all students willing to participate. The deadline for submissions is 12/3/10.

The Art Club will also be hosting a Spring Art Show. Details and information about submissions for the spring will be provided at the beginning of next semester.
