Author: Nicole Krauss
This is the second book by Nicole Krausse. Like many great works of fiction, this book is immensely sad in parts. Leo Gursky is forced to leave Poland and the love of his life fleeing from Nazis. Leo never really recovers and lives a shattered life in the US. That is, until Alma Singer, the daughter of the woman that translates Leoís book years after he wrote it for the woman he was forced to leave in Poland, finds a way to show the old man how to reclaim meaning lost over the years to circumstances and war and jealousy and betrayal. I highly recommend this book. The best ending to a book Iíve read in years.
